Sam Lavin Advances to the State Track Meet in the 400 meter dash!
Jackielynn Taflin and boys 4 x 200 meter break school records!
Section 8A Track
Sam Lavin capped off his high school athletic career with a trip to the State Track Meet. Sam took 1st place in the 400 meter dash with a time of 53.03. This earns him a return trip to Hamlin June 10 & 11 to compete at state. Sam also finished 8th in the 200 dash with a time of 24.61.
The boys 4 x 200 meter relay placed 3rd, breaking their own school record for the 3rd time this year, running 1:34.59. Team members are: Tristan Bakke, Luke Burgess, Ethan Dorman, Sam Lavin.
Jackielynn Taflin broke the school record in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:30.77, placing 6th. The previous record was set by Jodi Horn in 1997 with a time of 2:31.1.
Other placewinners:
Nathanael Dahl, 3rd in the shot with a throw of 44' 7.5". Nathanael missed a trip to state by about 4 inches.
Ethan Dorman, 4th in the triple jump with a leap of 39' 6".
Madison Stenzel, 5th in the discus with a throw of 99' 9".
Jennifer Lavin, 8th in the 200 meter dash with a time of 28.08.
