2024 Scholarship Opportunities
Northwest Minnesota Foundation Scholarships
Applicants will need to create & take an eligibility quiz, which will provide them with a list of scholarships in which the applicant is eligible for. Take time to properly answer the eligibility quiz questions. From there, applicants will be asked to complete separate applications for each scholarship they are eligible for. Most scholarship applications will ask for two letters of recommendation, however, applicants will be able to submit applications before letters of recommendation are uploaded from the recommendar. To be considered for a scholarship, all applications must be officially submitted and not in "draft" after the April 15th deadline. The following scholarships through NWMF can be applied for @ NWMF Scholarships.
Mary Jo Klinger Scholarship
-Applicants should be pursuing post-secondary education through an accredited college, university, vocational, technical or community college
-Scholarship award allocation is $3,500 which can be divided between 2-3 eligible applicants

John & Faye Hedin Scholarship
-Applicant(s) need to be pursuing a post-secondary education.
-Scholarship award allocation is $6,000 which can be divided between 2-3 eligible applicants

Richard Anderson Memorial Scholarship
-Applicants should be pursuing post-secondary education through a college, university, trade school, tech school or other accredited technical or vocational education/training institution or program with the goal of a career in agriculture (one scholarship) or in any of the building trades (one scholarship). Scholarship funds are to be used for tuition and books or direct educational material expenses.
-Scholarship award allocation is $1,000 which may be divided between 1-2 eligible applicants.

-Applicants must be female students pursuing post-secondary education at the following higher education institutions: Bemidji State University, Northwest Technical College in Bemidji, Northland Community and Technical College in EGF or TRF, University of Minnesota-Crookston, White Earth Tribal College

The Wes Westrum Memorial Scholarship

-Applicants must demonstrate a financial need and maintain a 2.5 GPA
-Participation in extracurricular activities, both in school and community, will be considered

-Applicants must be a Beltrami Electric Cooperative member or dependent of a Beltrami Electric Cooperative member who plans to enroll as a full-time student in their first year in an undergraduate course of study at an accredited two-year or four-year college, university, or vocational/technical school

-Applicant must be a 2024 graduate of CGHS looking to continue their education in some capacity
-Applicant must complete application and a short essay (less than 300 words) telling how a classified staff member (cook, custodian, para, secretary, media technician, etc) has impacted them in some way while attending school here

-Applicants must be 2024 graduates of CGHS attending either a 2-year technical school or a 4-year college
-Preference given to students with respectable and honorable qualities who have been positive role models in school and the community
-Scholarship award allocation is between $200-$500 (each) for up to five 2024 graduates

Medtronic/William Johnson Scholarship
-Applicant must have attended CGHS 5 of 6 years 7-12
-Must be respected within in community and set a good example for the youth of the community to follow
-Must be in the upper 1/3 of the graduating class
-Must have applied for and been accepted to an appropriate accredited school and enroll in the following course of study: mechanical engineering, biomedical engineering, electrical engineering, medical doctor, registered nurse, mathematics, chemistry or physics

-Appicants must have been confirmed at Samhold and pursuing a degree at a post-secondary institution or any student recommended by a Davids family member
-Scholarships are primarily need-oriented and targeted for students not ordinarily receiving scholarships
-Minority & David's family members, as well as education, art and journalism students will have some preference

FRS (Foundation for Rural Service) Scholarship Program
The foundation annually awards scholarships to an exceptional group of rural students for their first year of college or vocational school. All applicants require partnership with an NTCA—The Rural Broadband Association member company to be eligible. FRS has awarded over $1 million in scholarships since its inception; empowering rural students throughout the country to advance their communities with invaluable skill sets and experiences. Minnesota Telecom Alliance Scholarship
